But I don't think Freedom should run you more than $550 as an individual. A step above that, Oxford Freedom Plan, will cost a bit more but if you want more access, lower deductibles and higher ceilings, that's the price you pay. For a generally healthy mid-20 something, you shouldn't end up paying more than $450 for Liberty, which should get you an appointment at most doctor offices-primary, specialists and behavioral health. Oxford has a good plan for individuals called Liberty. I save the extra money in case I do have an emergency, and if I do at least that bullshit bcbs plan will do something for me. For me saving about 4000 a year is worth it, my family history is very clean and I don't live a dangerous lifestyle. I know a lot of people will jump all over me for saying this, but you have to exercise some personal judgement here. came out to about 50 bucks plus all of the copays. Last year with GHI I paid over 6000 for the year, and still had to pay for an emergency surgery out of pocket, ~1000. My total cost for yearly medical coverage (projection) should be under 2800 this year. And I'm now on the crap hospital plan you're describing. PCP only costs about 100 per visit, I pay for any labs myself, with are usually ~75 dollars (think physical and blood work). Here's where I'm at: most doctors aren't as expensive as you would think, my dentist (who is great) will clean teeth, floride etc and do x rays for $230 a visit. Since I've recently been been sort of burned by the general lack of actual coverage under my previous GHI HMO plan I did some digging much like you. Message the mods to be added to the trolls list.
